GOD eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (1 John 5:7; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14), and is the saviour of all mankind (1 Timothy 4:10). He is the only living and true God (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-7; 1 Corinthians 8:4), creator of all things (Acts 17:24, Genesis 1:1-31, Ephesians 3:9), infinite and all knowing (John 4:24), and perfect in all His attributes.
In Genesis, he reveals his triune nature in chapter 1 and beyond as plural (Elohim.) This is validated by his own words concerning himself in Genesis 1:26: "Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness..." while verse 27 refers to God in unity the pronouns "his" and' he" with Moses narrating the previously described events. This triune nature continues to be revealed in Genesis 3:22: "the man is become as ONE OF US..." as well as Genesis 11:6-8: "let US go down..."
In Exodus 3:14, God revealed his name to Moses as "I AM" (Jehovah) - signifying his eternality, self-sufficiency, omniscience, and omnipotence. Throughout scripture, God is addressed as "LORD God," which literally translates to "Jehovah Elohim" meaning "I AM (singular) - THE TRUE GOD (plural.)
THE CURRENT NATURE AND STATE OF MAN is depravity (Job 14:1), but not "Total Depravity" as outlined in the heretical "TULIP" tenants of Calvinism.
While man is born corrupted by a sin nature due to Adam's choice to sin against God in the garden (Romans 5:12), God created mankind with the ability to choose to exercise faith toward God upon hearing and believing his Word (Romans 10:17), and the testimony of Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross unto salvation (Romans 6:17.) The choice (Joshua 24:15) of whether or not to exercise faith toward God (becoming a believer) or to remain an infidel (unbeliever) is often referred to as "free will."
Depraved man does not have the ability to save himself and therefore is required to exercise faith (Hebrews 11:1, 6) in a Saviour that is pure, holy, and without spot (Acts 20:28, 1 Timothy 4:10) for salvation.
SALVATION is only gained by trusting Christ - via belief in the word of truth (the gospel of our salvation.) Salvation IS by works, just not our own. It is not of ourselves, but through the gift of God's grace that we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9.)
Upon HEARING the gospel, if we BELIEVE the gospel, we are then sealed with the holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14).
A lost soul can only be saved by trusting Christ to have done everything necessary for our salvation though his finished cross-work. Romans thru Philemon are the only books in the bible that explain salvation for today. In those books we find salvation is by faith alone, in Christ alone, without any works of any kind performed by us. Christ died for your sins and has risen for your justification (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Put your faith in what he did rather than what you have done, are doing, or are going to do.
Salvation is not "getting your sins forgiven," it's believing they already are. (2 Corinthians 5:19)
RECONCILIATION is the scriptural reference to the "rejoining" of God and mankind. This process requires participation from both parties in order to complete the deal. First, God did his part by taking the sins of the world out of the way. The shed blood of Christ provided the sole basis for forgiveness of sins. 2 Corinthians 5:19 tells us that while Christ was paying for our sins on the cross, God was in him, reconciling the world unto himself.
This is not universal salvation, but rather, unlimited forgiveness. God has reconciled himself to the world ONLY after all of the world's sins were paid for in full, by the sacrifice of Christ. God does not hold sins against us because they have already been paid for (every sin for every person.) Christ was made to be everyone's-every-sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). However, full reconciliation is not achieved until an individual "reconciles himself" to God (2 Corinthians 5:20). This happens upon belief of the gospel of our salvation. All humanity is forgiven but not all believe it.
Being forgiven does not equal being saved, salvation comes by faith. Salvation is granted by faith, forgiveness of sins is NOT. Your sins were forgiven regardless of your belief. God did not need your faith at Calvary, he only needed His Son's Atonement for your sins.
ETERNAL SECURITY (non-Calvinist) and OSAS (Once Saved Always Saved) are terms to describe the fact that that after trusting Christ according to the gospel, the salvation of the believer cannot be lost. Once saved, we are sealed to the day of redemption by the holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30.) Our salvation is a gift from God, received through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) which cannot be revoked (Romans 11:29.) Saved individuals during the dispensation of grace are placed into the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27) and are thus identified with Christ (Colossians 3:3.) As such, in order for the believer to lose their positional salvation in Christ, he would have to deny himself, and he cannot do that (2 Timothy 2:13.) It is the holy Spirit which seals and preserves us, performing his good work in us until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1 :6.) It is not according to righteous works that we were saved, and therefore not according to righteous works that we remain saved. It is solely by God's mercy and grace (Titus 3:5-7.)
THE CATCHING AWAY OF THE BODY OF CHRIST (aka "The Rapture") is pre-tribulational and therefore pre-millennial. As this is one of several mysteries revealed by our Apostle Paul, information concerning this event is not found outside of Paul's epistles of Romans-Philemon. Scripture makes a clear distinction between our being caught up in the air to forever be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:17), and the promise of Israel's Messiah returning (aka the 2nd Coming of Christ) and reigning in his Kingdom on the earth for 1000 years as King and Everlasting Father to born again Israel in the regeneration (Matthew 24, Revelation 20:4-8, Isaiah 9:6.)
As members of the body of Christ during the dispensation of grace, we are looking forward to the Day of Christ, which is his appearing (Colossians 3:4) and the time in which the believers of this dispensation (both living and dead) will be caught up in the air and placed into our changed (celestial) bodies (1 Corinthians 15:51-58.) Heaven (not earth) is our blessed hope (Titus 2:13) and the event of our catching away will not overtake us as a thief (1 Thessalonians 5:4.)
Contrariwise, the Day of the Lord is the time in which judgment will come upon all the earth, also known as "the great tribulation" (Matthew 24:21), "day of wrath" (Zephaniah 1:15, Romans 2:15), and a "day of vengeance" (Jeremiah 46:10, Isaiah 61:2; 63:4, 34:8, 2 Thessalonians 1:8.) It is a dreadful time that will take place to cleanse the earth (2 Peter 3:7) in preparation for Israel's new birth into their Kingdom (1 Peter 1:7-23) with their new sinless terrestrial bodies (1 Corinthians 15:40.) This event ushers in the millennial reign, when the 12 apostles will sit upon 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel on the earth (Matthew 19:28, Revelation 20:4.) Unlike the catching away of the body of Christ, Israel is warned repeatedly that the day of the Lord might come upon them as a thief (Revelation 3:3; 16:15, 2 Peter 3:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:2, Matthew 24:42-43, Luke 12:39.)
THE SCRIPTURES in the King James Bible (1611 translation, 1769 printing) are the purely preserved Word of God, true, faithful, and accurate, without error. As promised, the purity of God's word has been faithfully maintained.
Psalm 12:6-7 - The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Matthew 24:35 - Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
God's word is the authority not only in matters of salvation, but also in matters of history, science, geography etc... (2 Timothy 3:16).
Some say that only the "Original Greek" can be trusted. While the term "Original Greek" CAN mean that the New Testament was originally written in Greek, it can NOT mean that the original manuscript (a manuscript that no longer exists) was the only one that could be trusted. God is not a liar, and we can rest assured that His COPIES (not originals) have been perfectly preserved just as promised (Psalm 12:6-7). Since God approves the usage of copies, we could say a copy of the "Original Greek" continues to exist to this day and can be found in the King James Bible. And it was God approved copies being used during bible times and were considered to be the reliable inerrant word of God. Please examine the following evidence:
Deuteronomy 17:18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
Joshua 8:32 And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
Are you seeing this? God's LAW was even copied. Esther 3:14 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
Even King Solomon's PROVERBS were preserved through COPIES, not the "originals":
Proverbs 25:1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
-Question: In Luke 4:16-20 when Christ stood up in the synagogue and read from the sixty first chapter of the prophet Isaiah, do you think he read from the "Original"? The probability of that would be very low since the book of Isaiah was written hundreds of years B.C, while Christ reading from Isaiah did not take place until the first century A.D. Therefore, it is logical to believe that he could have very well been reading from a copy.
A bible believer will not doubt that "The words of the Lord" Psalm 12:7, have been kept and preserved "for ever" just as God promised. His word is the final authority in the ORIGINAL, and in the preserved COPIES. Many today do not believe that God's perfect word still exists, therefore having no final authority. -And beware, a man without a final authority is a dangerous man.
A CHURCH is not a brick and mortar building or a religious denomination. Buildings are not sacred or holy, and are without any deity attributes. The Lord no longer dwelleth "in temples made with hands:" (Acts 17:24). According to the revelation of the mystery revealed to Paul, (Romans 16:25), He now dwells within each individual believer (Colossians 1:27), and it is these individual believers who are referred to collectively in the scriptures as the Church (which is His body, ie. The Body of Christ.)
DISPENSATION is a word specifically chosen by God, making it a BIBLE word and not man-made. It is found in the KJB, not once, twice, or three times, but on FOUR separate occasions (1 Corinthians 9:17, Ephesians 1:10, Ephesians 3:2, Colossians 1:25). Half of the people within the confines of modern day church-ianity, have no clue what the word means, and the other half don't even know its in their bible.
A dispensation is a God revealed body of information dispensed for mankind to follow. It is not a time-period but rather instructions FOR a time-period. Those who do not understand bible dispensations, display their lack of understanding by cherry picking certain instructions from various parts of the bible as if they were written to them. This vain attempt to please God doesn't please him at all and only leaves one unstable in their ways. In this present day, we are to live according to what God calls the "dispensation of the grace of God" (Ephesians 3:2).
A dispensation was given to Paul to give to us. Each dispensation comes complete with instructions on how to have right standing with God, and what is expected from His people during that particular era. Specific instructions for periods of time marked by a change in God's method of dealing with humanity as a result of their sin.
For example: According to the gospel being preached prior to the cross, (The Dispensation of Law) to have eternal life, one must "keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:16-17). But according to the gospel Paul preached AFTER the cross, (The Dispensation of Grace) salvation has nothing to do with commandment keeping. How could it when "the law of commandments" were "abolished"? (Ephesians 2:15).
Understanding dispensations will allow you to see the distinction the bible made between The Jew, The Gentile, and The Church the body of Christ. Your bible study will come alive when you begin to pay attention to who is doing the speaking, and who is in the audience.
Examine the evidence by comparing James 1:1, (James speaking to the twelve scattered tribes of Israel) to Romans 11:13, (Paul speaking to the Gentiles). Also compare 1 Peter 1:1, (Peter again speaking to the twelve scattered tribes of Israel) to 2 Timothy 1:11, (Paul again speaking to the Gentiles). -Different speakers different audiences.
"And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward , whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?" (Luke 12:42).
A dispensation can be likened to a house rule or house dispensing. Paul is the apostle of the gentiles (Romans 11:13) and was given the responsibility of being a house manager, a steward "of the mysteries of God."
"Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." (1 Corinthians 4:1-2).
Using Paul for our pattern (1 Timothy 1:16) we as members of the body are called to be faithful stewards of the mysteries of God. Paul was the Lord's faithful and wise steward...the Titus 1:3 due time testifier...of the 1 Corinthians 9:17 "dispensation of the gospel"....and the Ephesians 3:8 revealer of the unsearchable riches of God's grace.
Something important to remember is, there are different sets of House Rules found in the bible. Just as I am the steward of my house, you may be the steward of yours. The rules for my house are different from the rules you have set for your house. The bible has different stewards with different rules for different houses as well.
A sincere bible student will see that God has not always dispensed the same information to people at all times. God never changes, but his instructions to mankind clearly did. Men, via their denominational divisions, have orchestrated various ways to study the bible. These man-centered ways have left their flocks unstable, having to take blind stabs in the dark. With no definitive answers the only thing left to do is guess. But, instead of that, why not approach the scriptures dispensationally and allow God to take away the guesswork? The bible comes equipped with its own *built-in-dictionary*. When we simply compare scripture with scripture and not preacher to preacher, the bible quickly begins to unfold and reveal itself to us.
Religious institutions have overlooked the word dispensation for far too long, and some have done so on purpose. Dispensation is a bible word found four times in the New Testament, and the concept is found in various places throughout scripture. In fact, the concept can be traced all the way back to Adam in the garden.
We hold to a MID-ACTS/ACTS 9 DISPENSATIONAL VIEW OF THE SCRIPTURES (often referred to by some as "right division.") We affirm (according to the scriptures): the Apostle Paul (then Saul) became the first member of the Church which is the body of Christ at his Damascus road salvation conversion in Acts 9. Although Paul was the first member (1 Timothy 1:16), this church's existence apart from Israel was an unsearchable mystery hid in God, not revealed in any Old Testament prophecies or in the teachings of Jesus during his earthly ministry (Ephesians 3:8) , kept secret from the foundation of the world until revealed by Paul (Ephesians 3:9, Romans 16:25-26), as God's chosen vessel to herald this good news to the Gentiles (Acts 9:15.) For this reason, it is in the writings of Paul, alone, that we find our instructions for salvation and service (doctrine) for this current dispensation (Grace) in which we currently live.
WATER BAPTISM is not for the body of Christ church. Paul was not sent to water baptize but to preach the gospel (1 Corinthians 1:17). No other apostle would have dared to say this (Matthew 28:19) because water baptism WAS a part of their gospel and necessary for salvation (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38). According to Paul's gospel on this side of the cross, there is now only ONE baptism (Ephesians 4:5).
The one and only baptism for today is a dry one (1 Corinthians 12:13).
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body."
Read the verse carefully and see that the Spirit has replaced the preacher, just as the body of Christ church replaced the water. Paul only mentions water baptism in the first chapter of 1 Corinthians, and it's there that he says he wasn't sent to do it. Water baptism is performed by a man, just as Spirit baptism is performed by the Holy Spirit. Simple math should shed light on this issue and solve the problem.
Water baptism + Spirit baptism = 2 baptisms. But Paul says there is now only "one baptism." -Which one will you choose? If the bible says there is only "one body" "one Spirit" "one hope" "One Lord" "one faith" and "one baptism", (Ephesians 4:4-5) why would anyone say there are two baptisms?
God used water baptism by the hands of John the Baptist and the twelve apostles to declare Christ to Israel. The baptism of repentance for remission of sins has been replaced. Now there is only one spiritual baptism (no water) performed by the Holy Spirit (no preacher). This identifies each saved individual as being in Christ.
MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS, like water baptism, were used by God to declare something. Speaking in tongues was used for a sign to who? Unbelievers, not believers (1 Corinthians 14:22). The purpose of these phenomenon were to declare God's word to unbelieving Israel. Signs were used as confirmation in order to get them to believe his word (Mark 16:20). God does things on purpose, and understanding the purpose of miracles, signs and wonders, will allow you to understand why they are currently not in operation.
Miracles, signs and wonders were in operation when God placed Israel "high above all nations of the earth:",(Deuteronomy 28:1) during the time of their rise, (Isaiah 60:1-3) and during the time of the apostles (Acts 2:22, 43; 5:12; 6:8; 14:3; 15:12). But in this present day Israel has fallen, (Romans 11:11) and there are no more apostles today (Acts 1:21-22). They all died during the first century, and this is when the ministry of such gifts ceased. They worked until the end of the apostolic age (1 Timothy 5:23, 2 Timothy 4:20).
Will they ever occur again? Yes, in time future during the tribulation. -Then, God will supernaturally cause the earth to quake, the heavens to tremble, the sun and moon to go dark, and the stars to stop shining (Joel 2:9).
But during this time God will take care of Israel by feeding them with "hidden manna" from heaven (Revelation 2:17), and supernaturally providing them with water (Joel 3:18, Zechariah 14:8). This water will be home to sundry forms of marine life (Ezekiel 47:9).
John adds to our understanding by describing this river as being clear as crystal, and flowing out of the throne of God (Revelation 22:1). It flows down the city's street, and on both sides of the river is the tree of life that produces twelve different kinds of fruit every month of the year.
GIVING, rather than "TITHING" is encouraged according to 2 Corinthians 9:7 rather than Malachi 3:8. When we compare scripture with scripture we see that these two verses diametrically oppose one another. Not only that, but vs. 9 of Malachi chapter 3, clearly explains who these instructions were written to, and the church the body of Christ is nowhere in the context.
Examine it for yourself:
"Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation."
When we honor the context, it's clear that God is addressing a nation (not the church: the body of Christ.) The "whole nation" is the nation Israel.
A tithe was a tenth, and was mandatory for Israel. It was a necessity in support of the Levitical priesthood (a priesthood that does not exist today). However, Paul instructs US, the church which is his body, that every man should give whatever he decides in his heart to give. No longer a "necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." Being made to give under the law does not produce a "cheerful giver" but rather one who gives from necessity.
When we rightly divide the word of truth, we recognize that God sometimes said different things about the SAME thing. He gave instructions concerning Israel's PROPHECY program, (information "spoken...since the world began" Acts 3:21) that differ from his instructions concerning our MYSTERY program, (information "kept secret since the world began" Romans 16:25). And Prophecy giving = LAW, Mystery giving = GRACE. Law giving = a tithe, Grace giving = whatever you purpose in your heart.
CREATION was a literal event described in the book of Genesis. We reject the theory of evolution, as well as the "Gap Theory" (or any variation of the idea of "missing" time periods during the course of the earth’s creation) and hold to scriptural evidence of what most refer to as a "young earth." On these issues, we choose to believe science as recorded in our Bible, rather than "science falsely so called:" (1 Timothy 6:20).
SATAN was a created cherub (Ezekiel 28:14) named Lucifer, who rebelled against God (Isaiah 14:12) and later transformed himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14.) His purpose in transformation is an attempt to hide the saving Gospel of Christ from unsaved people (2 Corinthians 4:3-4.) He is a literal being, and in the time of the Tribulation, will indwell the Son of Perdition-the False Prophet (2 Thessalonians 2:3-10), and ultimately be cast into the lake of fire forever (Revelation 19:20; 20:10.)
HELL was originally created for Satan and his angels (Matthew 25:41, Revelation 20:10) and is also a place of punishment for those who reject Christ (Matthew 13:41-42 & 50, 2 Thessalonians 1:8, Revelation 20:14, 21:8.) Hell is conscious torment (Matthew 13:50, Mark 9:43-48, Revelation 14:10-11) and is eternal, irreversible, and will ultimately be cast into the lake of fire which burns forever (Revelation 14:11, Revelation 20:14-15)
(This list is not exhaustive but is representative of some of the vain imaginations of man, which have infiltrated sound doctrine and are currently being taught by some who call themselves "grace teachers.")
