Compare The Verses - By Trey Searcy

Do We Know All Things, or Must We Consider Something First?

Under Covenant, John, when writing to Israel, tells them who's responsible for them KNOWING “all things."

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Under Grace, Paul, when writing to the church-the-body-of-Christ, tells us that we do NOT know “all things” nor do we get understanding from a supernatural “unction." Our understanding comes from our CONSIDERATION of what Paul says.

2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

Israel was given supernatural abilities from the "Holy One" to know all things, while we must "consider" what Paul said to us in his thirteen letters.

It's verse comparisons such as this that demonstrate how important it is to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15.)

"The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is."
