Compare The Verses - By Trey Searcy

Reconciled By Works, or By Grace?

Under Covenant, the house of Israel was reconciled by works.

Ezekiel 45:17 And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

Under Grace, we are now reconciled by the death of Christ on our behalf, and not by works.

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son,...

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,  by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Note: Religious tradition will give you a list of things to DO to be reconciled. Is this bible doctrine? Yes. The better question is WHO'S?

As illustrated in the above comparison we clearly see that it is not OURS. It was doctrine "for the house of Israel". It was THEY who had to perform "to make reconciliation".

All who can read and understand simple English will agree that the cross changed the reconciliation process. The Ezekiel 45:17 “offerings” are no longer needed.

By the cross, God became the reconciler, and is why Paul wrote: "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself."

"When you want to fool the world, tell the truth."
